WEST MILTON, Ohio (WKEF) — Police and deputies are investigating a possible murder-suicide after two dead bodies were found outside of an area city government office.

According to Chief Doyle Wright of the West Milton Police Division, on Saturday, just after 5 a.m., a West Milton police officer on patrol requested additional crews to the area of 701 South Miami Street.

The officer reportedly observed a parked car in the parking lot of the West Milton Municipal Building with the truck open.

Upon further investigation, Chief Wright said that a man was found dead, lying on the ground near the back of the car. According to Wright, the man had what appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound, with the gun lying on the ground close to him.

In the trunk of the car, Chief Doyle said that a woman was found dead.

At this time, Chief Doyle reported that the two are believed to have been married.

West Milton police and Miami County Sheriff’s Office deputies are working together to investigate the matter. The Ohio Attorney General’s Bureau of Investigations Crime Unit assisted with collecting evidence at the scene.

Chief Wright stated that there is no immediate threat to the community, and the matter is believed to be an isolated incident that originated outside the city and concluded there.

This is a developing story.
