A group of people was caught on video breaking into the Cloud Factory vape shop in Fort Myers on Tuesday morning.The owners shared a video with Gulf Coast News that they believe connects this crime to a chase in Cape Coral on Tuesday. Three masked people are seen on surveillance stepping out of a black Kia Optima and then smashing their way into the Cloud Factory vape shop on McGregor Boulevard in Fort Myers. Video shows them running to the cash register and taking vape products from the shelves. “Total damages, we’re looking at around $4,000, including the door and everything. It’s just, it’s just sad to see that people just think they can just go in and grab stuff and, you know, not work for it,” said owners Al and Jennifer Amir. Gulf Coast News saw Cape Coral police, deputies, and troopers searching for people on Tuesday morning. Drones and helicopters were seen hovering over neighborhoods in Northwest Cape Coral. Police said a car crashed through a fence on Northwest 25th Street. The Lee County Sheriff’s Office said the Florida Highway Patrol and Cape Coral police were helping them locate burglary suspects who ran from a traffic stop. The Lee County Sheriff’s Office said two people are in custody. A tow truck removed a black Kia from the scene. Gulf Coast News was able to zoom into the license plate and noticed it matches the car used at the Cloud Factory. The store owners believe the same people who deputies and police caught Tuesday in Cape Coral also broke into their store. “It’s just crazy how one thing just leads into so many other things and how they, you know, we just thought it was a little burglary, but it was a whole car chase and a bigger debacle than what we thought,” said Jennifer Amir. We reached out to the Lee County Sheriff’s Office to see if this was connected to the burglary. LCSO said this is still under investigation.
