FILE – St. Lucie County Animal Safety officials are warning residents about a recent telephone scam targeting pet owners. According to the agency, scammers are calling residents and claiming to be from St. Lucie County Animal Safety, telling them their pet has been hit by a car and needs emergency surgery.
