Following the University of North Florida’s 2026 Ozfest, the University and Student Affairs Committee (USA) of Student Government released a survey to gauge students’ opinions on the event.
According to an email from USA Chair Shipton Macdonald, the USA Committee collaborated with UNF’s Office of Student Life to draft a set of questions, which was then compiled into a unified survey.
Spinnaker spoke with UNF students who found the survey to be a direct and thorough opportunity to provide Ozfest feedback on food vendors and performing artists.
Student Opinions on Ozfest
Sophomore Alex Hall completed the survey and liked how short and direct the questions were. Regarding Ozfest, Hall said it was a fun experience and that the check-in process was easy, but she noticed fewer food options from vendors when she arrived late.
When it comes to the artists, Hall knew little about BigXthaPlug and Waka Flacka Flame, but enjoyed the concert. “I personally listen to pop,” said Hall. “It’d be nice to have a fun pop opener.”
Junior Skye Bartenfelder also took the survey and cited one problem she had at Ozfest: the food trucks. She mentioned that at one food truck, she realized there was hair in her food. Afterwards, Bartenfelder went to another vendor serving free food, but the line eventually closed.
There were also long lines for activities and rides, but she enjoyed Waka Flaka Flame’s performance overall. “I’d rank it a 6/10 experience,” Bartenfelder said.
Senior Aaron Capulong said that while he saw the Student Government survey in his Outlook student email, he expressed concern that other students might not see it in their inbox, or they might not care. Despite this, Capulong was satisfied with USA’s survey.
“I think it had everything I wanted to talk about,” said Capulong regarding the survey’s questions.
Capulong was also confused about which vendors were serving free food and which ones required payment.
“There wasn’t really a sign showing for the free food trucks,” said Capulong.
While Capulong reported that there were no signs at Ozfest directing to the free food trucks, Student Life did post about them before the event.
Survey Questions
The survey’s opening questions ask students about their grade level at UNF and whether they attended the event.
The rest of the questions then ask students how satisfied they are with Ozfest marketing, the carnival rides and vendors, and how they would like Ozfest to run in the future.
There is also a question asking students whether they are willing to pay for a premium or VIP ticket for perks like a better viewing area and shorter waiting lines.
Students can complete the survey here.
