I was uplifted by the time, intellect and energy devoted by Michael Rajner to ensuring medical assistance for HIV/AIDS victims, as reported by Anthony Man (“Michael Rejner relentless in quest to save Florida funding for HIV/AIDS drugs,” March 22).

There’s so much discouraging news about our policies and practices in Florida (e.g., the state with the most ICE arrests) that it can be hard to read the newspaper at times. (Seeing a photo of Trump makes me wince. I tend to skip articles about him.)

Therefore, to read a story about someone standing up and giving his all to support what should never have been threatened by a thinking society in the first place was uplifting.

I did note, Rajner was backed by the AIDS Healthcare Foundation and Equality Florida, but his voice and persistence made a huge impact.

Thank you to Mr. Rajner for his devotion and to Anthony Man for sharing some good news about someone in Florida.

Another great Beall column

Thank you for another great column from Pat Beall (“Can you spot the crazy?” Pat Beall column, March 21)

It’s a relief from all of the garbage coming out of the White House.

Keep it up!

No wrong answers

I have one more quiz question for your “humor” columnist to finish her Saturday news quiz: Whose portrait resembles a smiling walnut with a bad wig?

A. Pat Beall

B. Pat Beall

Answer: Both A and B are correct. No wrong answers here, everybody gets a prize!

One-way opinions

Seriously, when will Steve Bousquet retire, already?

His one-way opinions are maddening and add nothing to the Sun Sentinel (“Too late to clean up this DeSantis legacy,” column, March 22).

After canceling home delivery, I have come close to ending my digital subscription.

A not-so-fond farewell

I will be glad to see Little Ronnie leave the governor’s office in Tallahassee. May we never hear from this little Napoleon again.

My other hope is that we can get an attorney general in this state who will investigate DeSantis’ use of state funds for his pet projects.

Building Alligator Alcatraz and being proud of treating people inhumanely while at the same time stealing money for his charity is disgusting.

It’s time for him to go.

What if it were your house?

In predictable fashion, Saturday’s editorial is solidly in pro-illegal alien category (“Even sheriffs are fed up with immigration policy,” March 21).

For the editorial board, and for readers, I suggest this exercise: Personalize it. Imagine people are in your house and simply won’t leave. Maybe they were invited; maybe they broke in. Does it matter?

They don’t belong there. It’s your house, and if they whine that “your house is a lot better than the dump I was living in, I just want a better life that you have and you worked for,” so what?  Do you think you owe them that? I don’t.

What’s your response? I’m guessing “they deserve to be left alone” doesn’t crack the top 50 answers. So how would you feel if loud voices, including the Sun Sentinel Editorial Board, were relentlessly trying to keep them in your house, thwarting any effort to get them out?

Not so much fun, huh? The answer: Folks here illegally are breaking federal law and need to go.
