FRANKLIN COUNTY, FL (Amazing America) — Most of us have heard the saying about life sometimes imitating art, but what if your life is all about art? And you feel most at home when you are surrounded by it.
Well, the Carrabelle Bottle House along Florida’s Forgotten Coast in Franklin County, Florida, is Leon Weisener’s love letter to shapes, form, and light.
Amazing America’s Hunter Hulbert takes us inside this glass paradise:
The Carrabelle Bottle House is located in Franklin County, Florida, part of what is called the “Forgotten Coast,” a region known for its “Old Florida” charm. (Amazing America)
Created as an art structure in 2012, it took the retired art professor and set painter a year to build. The Carrabelle Bottle House was created using more than 6,000 beer, wine, and liquor bottles and is both a quirky roadside attraction and a true work of art.

Natural landscape and recycled items make it a tribute to creativity and conservation{ } (Amazing{ } America)
Outside, you see the bottoms of the bottles of varying colors and sizes anchored in concrete. Once inside, you see those same bottles peering through the concrete, creating a colorful and quirky masterpiece.

Weisener does not live in the bottle house, but he does live on the property, where you will find more of his eclectic art, including his geodesic structures, a type of building made from a network of triangles that form a dome-like shape. Weisener was inspired to build the structures after he lived in a dome in Tennessee in his 20s and 30s.

The house is not just “for show.” It is a small home with walls about 12 feet long and 8 feet high, and a roof that reaches roughly 14 feet tall. Another highlight of the property is the glass-bottled lighthouse.
