The #21 Valpo bowling team picked up three wins on Saturday as the Beacons continued action from Destination Orlando in Orlando, Fla.
 
How It Happened


Valpo opened the day on a winning note, taking down #6 Arkansas State 976-885 as Alexis Wooley (Fort White, Fla./Fort White) led the way with a career-best 244 game.
The Beacons fell in the second match slot to #19 Tulane, 967-885, and then dropped a 1040-992 decision to #9 Louisiana Tech despite three bowlers breaking 200 — Mia Kottke (Niles, Ill./Resurrection) rolled a career-best 214 game, Wooley posted a 213 and Maia Struble (Anchorage, Alaska/Dimond) posted a 204.
Valpo came away with an 835-695 victory in its penultimate match of the day against Prairie View A&M, and then prevailed 932-912 over Bryant to finish the day, led by a 227 game from Jen Patz (Naples, Fla./Naples) and a 215 game from Kottke to surpass her previous career best for the second time in three matches.
Wooley recorded the Beacons’ top team average Saturday with a 191.8 over the day’s five matches.
Valpo closed the day with 4,336 pins over the first two days of competition, good for 17th place out of the 24 competing teams.
