TAMPA, Fla. — The end of March has marked the start of Tampa Pride events for years.

What You Need To Know

Pride of Tampa is hosting multiple events supporting the LGBTQ+ community

Events include the Pride of Tampa Festival, Trans Pride Ball, Tampa Bay Trans Film Festival, and more

The plan is to host at least one event every other month the rest of the year and bring back the Tampa Pride Parade in 2027; You can find a list of the events they are hosting here

The highlight has been the Tampa Pride Parade, but this year, the celebration will be different with a new pride organization, Pride of Tampa, taking over.

President Daniel Johnson said their events will bring the community together.

“We want to make sure that the community knows that Pride of Tampa cares about you,” he said.

Pride of Tampa formed after Tampa Pride, a prior pride organization, announced a year-long hiatus.

That group cited funding reductions and the discontinuation of DEI programs in Florida.

Pride of Tampa Vice President Aaron Horcha said that this year, in addition to their events, they’re marching from the Cuban Club to Bradley’s on 7th to mark the end of this year’s pride celebrations.

“Our rights are trying to be erased,” he said. “Our rights are trying to be taken away, and the community has stepped up and is behind us. We are not going anywhere.”

The plan is to host at least one event every other month the rest of the year and bring back the Tampa Pride Parade in 2027.
