TAMPA, Fla. (WINK) — The FBI arrested a St. Petersburg man in connection with bomb threats made at MacDill Air Force Base last week.

Jonathan James Elder, 35, faces charges for making the threats. The second threat resulted in a full base lockdown for hours and raised the threat condition to Force Protection Condition Charlie, the second-highest level.

Court records claim Elder admitted to calling the base. In one of the calls, he allegedly said, “Tick tick boom, it’s gonna be between your eyes.”

The FBI tracked down Elder using phone records, cell site data, and digital records. The case against him also shows he has a history of Baker Act commitments going back to 2014.

After Elder’s arrest, the Tampa Bay Times posted that it received a video from someone taking credit for the bomb threats. That video came from someone else, according to WINK security analyst and retired FBI agent Richard Kolko.

The investigation into the additional video claiming responsibility for the threats remains ongoing.
