PORT ST. LUCIE — After the recent cold snap, many residents are seeing wilted leaves, browned fronds and fallen branches in their yards. Clearing this debris is essential to keeping neighborhoods safe, storm‑ready and preventing blockages in the City’s drainage system.

To help residents manage the extra debris, the City of Port St. Lucie’s Office of Solid Waste will increase the weekly quantity of yard waste limit to a maximum of 6 cubic yards curbside from March 30-April 24, 2026. This allows each household to place 50% more yard waste curbside than usual.

There will be no additional cost to residents.

This will allow up to 6 cubic yards to be collected during this time, which is roughly the size of three washer‑and‑dryer sets placed side by side.

Please remember that all standard yard‑waste guidelines still apply.

Proper Yard Waste Disposal

Bag loose leaf litter

Bag or containerize loose leaves, needles and small plant debris.

Each bag or container must be less than 50 pounds.

Bundle branches properly

Branches must be less than 6 inches in diameter, no longer than 4 feet (excluding palm fronds) and 50 pounds or less.

Stack piles neatly and keep them within the temporary 6‑cubic‑yard limit, which is roughly the size of three washer‑and‑dryer sets placed side by side.

Keep piles clean and separate

Do not mix yard waste with soil, rocks, garbage or other materials.

Place piles at the curb in front of your own home, 3 feet from mailboxes, storm drains and powerlines.

Need more than weekly pickup?

Residents can request an estimate for additional removal at $18.50 per cubic yard by calling 1PSL at 772‑871‑1775 (press 5).
