Madeira Beach commission to meet on city manager pick
MADEIRA BEACH — The Madeira Beach City Commission will hold a special meeting for city manager candidate presentations and selection discussion on Friday, March 27, at 1 p.m. in commission chambers. The finalists are:
• Stanley Hawthorne, city manager of the city of Pine Lake, Georgia
• Michael Helfrich, former public works director and assistant city manager of the city of Treasure Island
• Adrian Jones, town manager of the town of Atlantic Beach, South Carolina
• Lynne Ladner, former town manager for the town of Ocean Ridge
• Debbie Manns, city manager of the city of New Port Richey
• Timothy Owens, former Interim public works director and interim planning director of the town of Zebulon, North Carolina
• Raymond Palmer, township manager of Silver Spring Township, Pennsylvania
The city will be hosting a meet and greet with the candidates Thursday, March 26, from 5 to 7 p.m., at the Cambria Hotel, 15015 Madeira Way.
The City of Madeira Beach invites the community to meet the candidates for our next City Manager.
At the event, residents can learn more about each candidate’s vision for Madeira Beach and ask questions. Light refreshments will be served.
According to the recruiter for the city manager candidate, Renee Narloch with S. Renee Narloch & Associates, about 56 candidates applied for the position, which is currently being held on an interim basis by Clint Belk.

The St. Pete Beach Public Library has set its schedule of upcoming events.
• Monday, March 30, 4 p.m. — Story Time Adventures: For our Story Time kiddos who are ready for longer stories and a craft.
• Tuesdays, 10 a.m. — Story Time! This lively story time is perfect for children ages 5 and under and their caregivers. We’ll explore stories, songs and movement that build early literacy skills and support motor development.

• Writers Group: Mondays, 10 a.m.-noon
• Library App Help: Wednesdays, 2-3 p.m. — For help with Libby, Kanopy, and Hoopla.
• International Movie: Wednesday, April 8, 2 p.m. — “The Art of Nothing.”
• Mahjong: Thursdays, 11 a.m. — Old and new members welcome.
• Investment Club: Thursdays, 2:30-4 p.m.
• Meditation: Fridays, 11 a.m.-noon. Relax and rejuvenate at the end of the week.
• Scrabble: Fridays, 1-4 p.m.
