TAMPA, Fla. (CBS12) — A coordinated theft scheme that exploited the inner workings of a Tampa alcohol distribution company has led to the arrest of three people, uncovering $75,000 worth of stolen liquor hidden in a Florida home.

Sheriff Chad Chronister stated, “This case highlights the calculated efforts of individuals who exploited their positions for personal gain. Thanks to the diligence of our detectives and the cooperation of the victim company, those responsible are now facing serious consequences.”

The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office said that the theft was uncovered after the company reported an ongoing internal theft involving a delivery driver, a warehouse associate, and a third suspect on March 12.

According to officials, detectives found that starting February 13, employees were involved in stealing high-end liquor during overnight shifts. Warehouse associates allegedly concealed the liquor cases on pallets, breaking and then reapplying security seals to avoid detection.

The Sheriff’s Office said that the delivery driver, aware of the compromised seals, left the warehouse without reporting the issue. He reportedly made unauthorized stops along his delivery route, particularly at a Wendy’s in Seffner, where the stolen liquor was transferred to a vehicle driven by a third suspect.
