As a member of the School District of Lee County School Board, I have the privilege of seeing firsthand the incredible work taking place in our schools every day. Across our district, students and educators continue to demonstrate why public schools remain a strong choice for families in our community.
Students throughout Lee County are achieving at high levels in academics, athletics, the arts, and leadership programs. Our music programs recently earned top ratings at district Music Performance Assessments (MPA), while JROTC cadets showcased their leadership and discipline at the Lee County JROTC Drill Competition, with several teams qualifying to compete at the state level.
Student-athletes across the district continue to shine as well, advancing to regional and state competitions and earning championships and medals in multiple sports. In the classroom, Lee County students are also excelling academically, earning recognition in national academic programs and advancing to state competitions in creative problem-solving events such as Odyssey of the Mind.
Our schools are also being recognized for instructional excellence. Hancock Creek Elementary School and Cypress Lake Middle School recently earned Level 3 Marzano Certification, becoming the first schools in Florida — and among only about 100 nationwide-to achieve this distinction for implementing a guaranteed and viable curriculum.
As our community continues to grow, so do the opportunities within our public schools. Bayshore Elementary School is being expanded into a K-8 campus, and Hector A. Cafferata Jr. Elementary School will also open as a K-8 school to serve more students and families.
These accomplishments highlight what makes public education in Lee County so special. Our schools offer students access to advanced academics, career pathways, athletics, performing arts, and leadership opportunities-all supported by dedicated educators and strong community partnerships.
Every day, our students remind us why investing in public education matters. For families seeking quality, choice, and opportunity close to home, Lee County’s public schools are the clear choice.
