Two days after the signage permit was filed for Big Thunder Mountain Railroad at Walt Disney World, the refurbished sign is in place. Based on the wood grain patterns, we believe this may be a refurbished sign rather than an entirely new one.
This morning (March 26) during a visit to Magic Kingdom, we spotted crews actively working on the refurbished signage at Big Thunder Mountain Railroad. It looks about the same as the old sign, but with a much fresher look and vibrant colors. The block letters are a goldenrod color with orange outlines to make the letters pop. The sign is surrounded by a thin yellow border.
It appears the crew was doing paint touch-ups on the sign during installation.
For reference, here is the old sign:
The permit filed the other day was contracted to Design Communications Ltd., who have created signs for several Walt Disney World attractions and venues. They are also contracted for the new “The Walt Disney Studios” sign coming to Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
