The parking lot at Lynn Hall Memorial Park on Fort Myers Beach will close on April 6 until the summer of 2027 for the construction of new elevated restroom facilities. Access to the beach for pedestrians will continue through a pedestrian access walkway, the county announced today.
The restroom facility at the park was destroyed by Hurricane Ian in 2022. There have been portable restrooms set up in the parking lot, located at 950 Estero Boulevard, for the last couple years. Portable restrooms will be stationed at the west end of the park during the new construction, the county announced.
The new elevated restroom facility will have ADA-accessible boardwalks, lighting and picnic shelters.
During construction, portable restroom facilities and a pedestrian access walkway will remain open on the west end of the park.
Visitors are encouraged to use alternative parking at Bowditch Point Park at the north end of the island at 50 Estero Boulevard. County parking fees are $2 per hour and are monitored by video camera. The county also has parking off Main Street before Matanzas Pass Bridge where there is a trolley stop at 796 San Carlos Boulevard and operates a larger Park & Ride station with trolley service every half hour to Fort Myers Beach, further off island at 11101 Summerlin Square Drive. The Summerlin Square Drive location has 125 free parking spaces, though it has historically been less used than the other county parking lots on the island. The county has promoted the location as an alternative to driving through traffic on busy days with the added cost of parking. The Town of Fort Myers Beach operates parking spots near the park off Estero Boulevard and Old San Carlos Boulevard, as do private parking lot operators.

The Lee County Board of County Commissioners voted in December to award the $6 million contract for the construction of the 4,114 square-foot elevated restroom building along with an ADA platform lift, public parking, the replacement of some ADA-accessible boardwalks, three 625-square-foot picnic shelters with grills, landscaping, lighting and signing.
This project will be funded with FEMA funds, Regional Park impact fees and Tourist Development Taxes through the Beach and Shoreline Program. In 2024, the county awarded a $579,800 contract to design the Lynn Hall Memorial Park improvements, including restrooms, to DRMP, Inc.
