Florida basketball will get back its 3-point expert Urban Klavzar for the 2026-27 campaign, the guard announced on Thursday via social media. He will return for his senior season, having spent the last two seasons in Gainesville with the Gators after arriving from Europe.
The 6-foot-1-inch, 190-pound backcourt backup from Slovenia helped the Orange and Blue in its run to the national championship last year and was a key component in Todd Golden’s eight-man rotation this season, shooting a team-high 40.6% from beyond the arc as well as leading the way at the free-throw line with a 90.3% mark.
“I love being a Florida Gator,” Klavzar told Florida Victorious. “I love the coaching staff, my teammates — just living in Gainesville has probably been one of the best times of my life. It’s really awesome here. It was a tough loss in the second round as well, and I really want to run it back with my teammates and try to win a championship again. In general, I just love playing here.”
Overall, Klavzar averaged 9.6 points, along with 1.5 rebounds and 1.3 assists, in 20.7 minutes per game during his junior season, showing improvement on both ends of the court. His efforts earned him the SEC Sixth Man of the Year award prior to the start of the postseason.
“Going into this year, in the summer, I knew the role was going to be bigger,” he noted. “I knew I had to be more aggressive and more confident in myself. I know I can do this. I’ve played at a high level in Europe, so I believed I could definitely help this team win. That’s how I was thinking going into this season.”

At one point, the shooting guard connected from beyond the arc in 21 straight games — a streak that came to an end in the SEC Tournament semifinals against the Kentucky Wildcats. Klavzar played through a thumb injury on his shooting hand during March Madness, yet still drained 3-pointers in the conference tournament loss to the Vanderbilt Commodores as well as both of Florida’s NCAA Tournament matchups.
Hopefully, he returns healthy next fall for his senior campaign with the Gators and continues his growth as a player.
