Cape Coral is 0-4 against Fort Myers since March of 2016 but things could change on Monday. The Seahawks will head out to challenge the Green Wave at 7:00 p.m. Cape Coral’s pitching crew has only allowed 3.4 runs per game this season, so Fort Myers’ hitters will have their work cut out for them.

On Thursday, Cape Coral didn’t have quite enough to beat Lemon Bay and fell 4-3.

Emma Brannan was huge no matter where she played even without the win. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 13 batters over six innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn’t tossed less than eight strikeouts in ten consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter’s box, going 3-for-4 with one run and one double.

Brannan wasn’t the only one making solid contact as seven players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Taylor Buice, who went 2-for-4 with one double.

Meanwhile, it may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Fort Myers ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 6-5 victory over Dwyer.

Gianni Torres was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with three RBI and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Amira Peterson, who went 2-for-4 with one run and one double.

Fort Myers kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they’ve now got at least eight hits in five consecutive contests.

Fort Myers pushed their record up to 8-4 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games. As for Cape Coral, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-4.

Both Cape Coral and Fort Myers just can’t seem to miss. The Seahawks have been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 10.2 hits per game. However, it’s not like Fort Myers struggles in that department as they’ve been averaging only 5.2 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.

Cape Coral might still be hurting after the 15-0 loss they got from Fort Myers when the teams last played back in April of 2021. Can the Seahawks avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We’ll find out soon enough.
