Florida State has been getting back into the groove of practice this week after its spring break. It’s also brought in a ton of prospects who have been checking out the way they do things.

On Thursday, they had 2027 tight end DeShaun Thomas on campus. His offer sheet was already pretty full with over 20 on the table. However, FSU didn’t join the party until they saw him face-to-face. In an instant, the Seminoles have taken the top spot in the recruitment of Thomas.

“Number one, already. If I got this as my first offer, this would still be my number one until now,” Thomas told Noles247.

The 6-foot-3, 230-pounder went into detail about why getting an offer extended to him by Florida State from head coach Mike Norvell means so much.

“It’s honestly been my favorite school since I was a kid. I’ve always been a Florida State fan. I’ve always wanted to go there. So getting an offer was definitely special,” Thomas said about getting an offer from his dream school.

“Honestly, I kind of started tearing up. Since a little kid, I always dreamed of going there. That’s always been the goal and he’s a super real person, so I really respect him.”

It was a solid junior campaign for Thomas at Merritt Island High School. He hauled in 41 receptions for 570 yards and five touchdowns. He also provided 97 yards and six scores as a short-yardage runner.

Thomas is also being recruited heavily by Pittsburgh, Memphis, Wisconsin, and Florida International. He hasn’t set a timeframe at the moment, but a decision could come soon. There aren’t any official visits planned by Thomas currently, but he did acknowledge that when he does, FSU will get the first one.

No major recruiting sites have Thomas ranked at the moment.
