Mignonette, a New Orleans-inspired seafood restaurant in Miami’s Edgewater neighborhood, has closed.
Mignonette
Mignonette, a beloved neighborhood bistro in Miami’s Edgewater, has closed its doors, and you’re not the only one who’s upset.
The owner, acclaimed chef Danny Serfer, made the announcement on Instagram Saturday. The nearly 12-year-old restaurant’s last night of service was Sunday.
The must-try spot was known for its chill vibe, amazing seafood (including oysters sourced from both coasts) and killer wine and beer offerings. For a brief time during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic when restaurants were shut down all over town, Mignonette was able to pivot and transform into an Italian takeout place, with great success.
“After more than a decade of memories, laughter, and unforgettable moments, it’s time for us to say goodbye,” Serfer’s post said. “This restaurant has been so much more than a place to eat. It’s been a home.”
Commenters, many of whom were regulars or had celebrated special occasions at the New Orleans-inspired gem (a former gas station), look like they may need a support group.
“Life changing dinner experience, and thank you forever.”
“Nooooo don’t make this trueeee.”
“My favorite spot and the best kept secret for the best seafood in Miami. So sad to see this news. … My wife and I had one of our very first dates there and it will forever be a core memory for us. Congratulations on an amazing run.”

Serfer, who also ran Mignonette in North Miami Beach that shut in 2017, didn’t give a reason for the sudden move, and a rep didn’t immediately respond to a request for comment. But the Miami native did note that folks can still visit his other baby, Blue Collar, a few blocks north in MiMo.
“Closing this chapter is not easy, but we leave with full hearts and endless gratitude,” Serfer said. “Thank you for allowing us to be a part of your lives and your most special moments.”
