Florida State‘s defense was atrocious in 2024. Last season, Tony White came over from Nebraska as the new defensive coordinator, and there were improvements with the overall unit.

After finishing 13th out of 17 ACC teams defensively before he got to Tallahassee, FSU’s defense ranked fourth in the conference in 2025, and they climbed up to 29th nationally under White.

As the Seminoles prepare for the 2026 season, White is looking to take his defense to the next level. He’s brought in a recruiting class full of potential, with blue-chip signees cornerback Chauncey Kennon and linebacker Izayia Williams leading the way. Also, several talented transfers like defensive back Karson Hobbs, defensive lineman Rylan Kennedy, and cornerback Nehemiah Chandler are on the roster.

At the moment, Florida State is in the middle of spring practice and scrimmages. So far, there’s been plenty of things to be positive about, and White took to the podium to discuss them on Monday. You can watch White’s full interview below.
