TAMPA, Fla. (WINK)—Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis has signed bills that enhance penalties for dangerous crimes and sexual offenses.
This was announced during a livestream in Tampa Tuesday morning.
Missy’s Law (House Bill 445) intends to send people convicted of serious crimes to jail immediately after the crime was committed. This bill ensures that the judge must remand the convicted defendant to custody.
The second bill he signed was House Bill 1159. This protects Floridians from sexual predators by expanding criminal offenses and enhancing penalties related to child sexual abuse material.
