Following a nearly two-year pursuit, Orlando’s Camping World Stadium was selected on Monday as the temporary home venue of the Jacksonville Jaguars for the 2027 season. A unanimous vote from NFL owners during their league meeting in Phoenix, Arizona pivoted Orlando as the destination for the Jaguars. Reports of Orlando possibly hosting the Jags first surfaced in 2024 after the team announced it was looking for a temporary home venue for the 2027 season while renovations to EverBank Stadium are underway. The University of Florida’s Ben Griffin Stadium was also in consideration as a possible temporary home venue in 2027. Currently, Camping World Stadium is under a $400 million renovation, which is expected to be completed by summer 2027. Once complete, Camping World Stadium will seat more than 65,000 fans, allowing it to host NFL games, major college football events, concerts and other large-scale entertainment. The $400 million project is funded entirely by the Orange County Tourist Development Tax (TDT).Earlier this year, Florida Citrus Sports CEO Steve Hogan shared the optimism surrounding Camping World Stadium hosting the Jags while their own stadium undergoes renovation.“We expect very soon,” said Hogan. “Obviously, they’re in a playoff game this weekend, which is super exciting for them. The team has been amazingly successful. To think we might have an opportunity to be their solution in 2027 is very exciting.”“I would say stay tuned. You have to finish your season before you can talk about anything like that publicly,” Hogan added. “So our expectation is, hopefully, they go on a Super Bowl run, and we can wait. But if not, hopefully, we’ll celebrate some official news on that really soon.”When asked if an announcement would occur before the summer, Hogan was confident.“I’d be really shocked if there’s no news on that and it’s not official for us or Gainesville or any other option well before the World Cup kicks off,” said Hogan. “This is something that, as the NFL comes to a close, it’s probably time to make things official.”Last November, Orlando City Commissioner Shan Rose told WESH 2 that the Jags have expressed their intentions to the city of Orlando about playing at Camping World Stadium in 2027.Camping World Stadium is expected to undergo a $400 million renovation this year ahead of the expected NFL news.
