Mike had a ski trip planned with college buddies and I was looking at the forecast and wasn’t too eager about another somewhat chilly weekend at home… so I booked a trip to Tampa as a bit of a spring break for us.
As I was packing for the three of us and trying to coordinate logistics of car seats and all the stuff, I did start to question whether or not it was going to be worth it. Traveling is never really my forte, and then adding a four year and a two year old to the mix?! It’s a lot. But… I’m happy to report from the other side that it was 100% worth it. And also here to report that traveling with kids who aren’t babies is also so much easier. Rory on the flight wasn’t exactly relaxing for me but no tears and it was pretty manageable. And we still have Rory’s nap every afternoon to schedule around. But since he’s two, we could be a little more flexible, which lent to a much more relaxing and FUN trip.
That’s actually how I would describe it… it was FUN. We went to the park every day. We swam at my parents’ country club. We went to a baseball game. We went to the zoo! It was truly a blast and made me excited for future adventures. (Which, again as someone who really doesn’t ~love~ traveling, shocks me!) Writing this in case you’re in the trenches and feeling like there’s no light at the end of the tunnel… hang in there!
