An internationally recognized bakery cafe known for its sweet and savory pastries, cakes and mochi donuts, baguette sandwiches and more is introducing itself to Northeast Florida at the St. Johns Town Center.

Paris Baguette opened its first Jacksonville bakery cafe March 31 at 4624 Town Crossing Drive, Suite 125, in the regional shopping center on the Southside.

“We focus on high-quality pastries, cakes, sandwiches, coffee and beverages,” Assistant General Manager Kate Toler told the Times-Union.

The new bakery cafe is the first of at least four anticipated Jacksonville locations for the chain, which dates back to 1988 in South Korea.

The roughly 2,552-square-foot Town Center space formerly housed Pieology Pizzeria, which closed in April 2022 after nearly six years.

There, Paris Baguette joins Chicken Salad Chick, Noodles & Co. and Smoothie King in the one-story retail strip-style building.

Paris Baguette offers freshly made pastries, baguette sandwiches, donuts, cakes, tarts, breads, and other fare such as salads and wraps. It’s all done in-house, Toler said.

“We have bakers coming in at 2 a.m. every day and they bake everything,” she said. “Then we have the cake decorators come in at 4 a.m. Sandwiches are done as well, so they come in really early to prep everything.”

Cakes include classics such as Chocolate and Red Velvet to the unique Triple Chocolate Crunch Irish Cream Layer Cake, Blueberry Chiffon, Cappuccino and Chocoholic Chiffon Cake, the online menu shows.

“Our cakes are more on the lighter side. We have the soft cream cake,” said Toler, noting that their cream cakes aren’t as dense or heavy as a traditional cake.

Among those cakes are the Strawberry Soft Cream Cake, which the online menu describes as “vanilla cake filled with soft cream and fresh strawberries, topped with more berries.”

Among the tarts are Pastel De Nata, Tiramisu and Cheese, as well as the signature mixed berries. The pastry selection ranges from traditional almond, chocolate and butter croissants to French Apple Turnovers, Pineapple Brulee Pastry, Sticky Milk Buns and Walnut Cream Bread.

The donuts come in classic, mochi and croissant styles. The selection features the King Cream Donut, Strawberry Mochi Donut and Sweet Rice Red Bean Puff.

The croissant donuts, as well as the Mochi donuts, are among Paris Baguette’s most popular offerings, General Manager Jin Huang said.

On the savory side of the menu, the Smoked Sausage Bread is a cream bun filled with smoked sausage and dijon mustard, topped with mozzarella and ketchup, Huang said.

The bakery cafe offers coffee plus other hot, cold and frozen beverages, organic milk and other drinks, according to its website.

Paris Baguette has more than 4,000 restaurants worldwide — many in North America, according to the chain’s website.

The Town Center cafe is the 301st Paris Baguette location in the United States, restaurant officials said.

“Obviously, Jacksonville is a very vibrant city with a large population, beautiful beachfront and a lot of visitors come here and there are a lot of residents,” Toler said of the factors contributing to Paris Baguette’s decision to open its first Northeast Florida cafe here.

“It’s a big market, but I feel like it aligns with our [philosophy and commitment]. We want to make beautiful, tasty pastries to make you feel happy. And I feel like Jacksonville is a city that when you think about it, you feel happy, relaxed,” Toler said.

A company representative last April told the Times-Union that Paris Baguette was exploring potential future locations in Mandarin and Jacksonville Beach as part of a multi-unit development. No timeline has been announced for those new stores.

The chain’s website currently lists eight in Florida. In addition to Jacksonville, Paris Baguette also has locations in Coral Springs, Delray Beach, Miami, Orlando, Tampa, Winter Garden and Winter Park.

The Town Center buildout cost was estimated at $150,000, according to a city building permit issued July 24, 2025.

Town Center and adjacent shopping centers already boast a variety of sweet treat bakeries and restaurants.

Among them are Light on the Sugar Bakery Cafe, 4860 Big Island Drive Unit 2 in The Markets at Town Center; The Yard Milkshake Bar, 4906 Town Center Parkway Unit 406 in The Strand at Town Center; Kilwins Chocolates & Ice Cream, 10281 Mid Town Parkway Suite #125 at Town Center; Sugar Factory, 4910 Big Island Drive at The Markets at St. Johns; and Mayday Ice Cream, 4853 Big Island Drive No. 3 in The Markets at Town Center.

Paris Baguette, which has at least 42 seats, is open 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 6 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. Friday, Saturday and Sunday, Toler said.

Asado Life, a popular live-fire grilling restaurant established in St. Augustine three years ago, is coming to downtown Jacksonville. The concept from Nick Carrera is slated to join the Shipyards project under construction across from EverBank Stadium, Jaguars team owner Shad Khan’s Iguana Investments announced in September. The 140-seat, full-service restaurant with indoor and patio dining will be part of the development’s marina support building located on the Northbank Riverwalk just west of the Four Seasons Hotel and Private Residences Jacksonville and south of a nearby office building, both taking shape at the site. Diners can expect chef-cut steaks ranging from an 8-ounce Hanger to a 36-ounce Porterhouse; fresh catch seafood; grilled vegetables and more, all prepared on a parilla, a traditional Argentinian barbecue grill. | Read more
