TAMPA, Fla. — There is a motion regarding the Tampa Bay Rays stadium pursuit on the agenda at Wednesday’s Hillsborough County Commission meeting.
Per the motion, all county staff are being called upon to release any drafts and/or notes concerning the Rays’ stadium plans at Hillsborough College’s north Dale Mabry Highway campus.
That release has a deadline of 5 p.m. Wednesday.
Meanwhile, it’s possible more movement toward a stadium in Tampa could happen later this month.
County commissioners, as well as city council members, could take a vote on the proposed $2.3 billion Tampa Bay Rays stadium deal in mid-April 2026, with meetings tentatively set for April 15 and 16.
The team is envisioning a mixed-used entertainment district that would include a domed stadium that can seat about 31,000 people. The entire development would stretch about 130 acres across the campus.
The college campus is located across from Raymond James Stadium. Rays officials have said they would like to be in the new facility in time for the 2029 season.
