TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – The Tallahassee Animal Service Center hosted its Pick a ‘Pup’kin event this weekend to help get more dogs and cats into new homes.
Vice President of the Animal Shelter Foundation, Lauren Perlman, said there were many dogs to adopt.
“There’s all kinds of dogs, and all they want to do is be back in a home,” Perlman said. “We, hopefully, can put them there.”
The first 25 people to adopt a pup also walked away with a pumpkin, just in time for the fall season.

The shelter can be a challenging adjustment for dogs, according to Perlman.
“It’s a very loud environment,” she said. “They’ve been in a home and now they’re here – somewhere they don’t know – so helping them get back into a home is huge.”
Perlman said they have dogs for various age groups and lifestyles. “Just so many that are needing homes,” she said.
Pick a ‘Pup’kin is from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday. If you don’t make it to the event, you can make an appointment at the shelter or drop by Wednesday through Sunday between 1 p.m. and 5 p.m.
