NASA’s Artemis II mission launched from the Kennedy Space Center in Florida on Wednesday, April 1, sending four astronauts around the Moon for the first time since 1972.

Three Americans and one Canadian were on board the craft as it blasted off from Merritt Island for the 10-day mission.

“Their goal is to verify modern human capabilities in deep space and pave the way for long-term exploration and science on the lunar surface,” according to NASA.
