JACKSONVILLE, Ill. (WCIA) — Jacksonville Police arrested a man on Wednesday whom they suspect of being behind as many as seven burglaries.

Kyle Chumley, Commander of Investigations for the Jacksonville Police Department, said that between March 26 and April 1, officers took six reports of burglaries. They believed the burglaries were “possibly committed” by the same suspect.

“The Jacksonville Police Department Detectives Division began investigating the burglaries and with the help of witnesses and video surveillance were able to ascertain a suspect,” Chumley said. “On April 1, 2026, at approximately 7:05 p.m., detectives located and placed Miles D.
Pelehowski under arrest for the reported burglaries.”

Pelehowski was booked into the Morgan County Jail on a total of eight preliminary counts: seven of burglary and one of criminal damage to property. He remains in custody awaiting his first appearance before a judge.

The Jacksonville Police Department urged anyone with further information on these burglaries to contact the JPD Investigative Division at 217-479-4630 or Crime Stoppers of Morgan, Scott and Cass Counties at 217-243-7300.
