Two men are behind bars after being arrested in connection to a string of “violent” armed robberies across Jacksonville in June 2025, the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office announced Tuesday.
Richard King, 25, and James Weaver, 38, each face multiple charges related to the five robberies, which reportedly took place over the course of 10 days in June.
According to JSO, King and Weaver waited for cashiers to be alone before holding them at gunpoint, stealing cash and pepper-spraying them before leaving.
“It’s one thing to demand to have somebody at gunpoint, for them to be cooperative, and then you also pepper spray them afterwards, it’s just kind of heinous,” JSO Sgt. Christopher Smith said.
King and Weaver each face five armed robbery charges, according to court records.
“Detective Raquel Anderson with our Robbery and Violent Crimes Unit led the investigation, working tirelessly to stop the brazen attacks,” JSO said in a release. “She reviewed hours of store surveillance video, tracked leads, and partnered with our Real Time Crime Center to identify a key piece of evidence. We recognized Detective Anderson’s efforts by naming her one of our Detectives of the Month. Her efforts go beyond just this case, as she works to make Duval safer every day.”
