The Orlando Police Department said that the Storey Park group shows what can happen when neighbors, community partners, and police work together to keep their community safe. OPD said their commitment to staying connected, informed, and engaged shows how strong partnerships between neighbors and police help keep Orlando safe. The group has strong block captains who work to keep everyone informed.

Their motto is “connect, live, and watch together.”

“The Orlando Police Department continues to make meaningful progress in reducing crime across the City of Orlando, and it is through strong partnerships with engaged communities like Storey Park that the city has achieved historic lows in crime,” OPD stated.

Neighborhood Watch Groups serve as eyes and ears for their fellow neighbors while also helping the Orlando Police Department identify and investigate suspicious activity. City of Orlando residents can start a Neighborhood Watch Group for their street, block, neighborhood, apartment complex or condominium community by contacting the Orlando Police Department. “By working together, we can keep our community safe,” OPD stated.

Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer joined District 1 City Commissioner Tom Keen, members of the Orlando Police Department, and neighborhood leaders from Storey Park for the sign unveiling.

Orlando police said recently reported significant crime reductions, crediting proactive policing and community support, and provided some stats and data to back up their claims.
