New Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church is extending a helping hand to Miami residents as fuel costs continue to rise across Florida. The church will host its community-focused “Peace at the Pump” initiative on Saturday, April 4, 2026, from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. at the 7-Eleven located at 9500 N.W. 7th Ave. in Miami. Drivers who attend will receive $25 toward fuel while supplies last.
Located at 1350 N.W. 95th St., New Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church has served the Liberty City and Little River communities for 88 years. Known as “The Place of Peace,” the church has long prioritized outreach programs that address both immediate needs and long-term community well-being.
“Peace at the Pump” is part of a series of upcoming initiatives centered on community engagement, youth development and civic education, according to a press release.
The timing of the event comes as gas prices across Florida and the nation continue to climb sharply. According to AAA — The Auto Club Group, fuel costs in Miami now average $4.15 per gallon, while drivers in Fort Lauderdale are paying an average of $4.27 per gallon. Prices have risen more than one dollar per gallon over the past month since the U.S.-Israel conflict with Iran began.
Nationally, the average price of gasoline has increased to $4.08 per gallon. Diesel prices have also surged dramatically, rising $1.74 in the past month to $5.51 per gallon, the highest level since July 2022
Federal lawmakers are now considering suspending the national gasoline tax in an effort to ease the burden on families and businesses. President Donald Trump said he has “thought about” the idea and suggested states should also consider suspending their fuel taxes.
