The Twins traded Whitaker to the Marlins on Thursday in exchange for Garrett Acton.
Whitaker spent time with the Twins’ High-A and Double-A affiliates last season, posting a 2.11 ERA and 1.20 WHIP over 38.1 combined innings. The 25-year-old right-hander will remain in Double-A to begin his time with the Marlins but could reach Triple-A Jacksonville if he continues to dominate on the mound.
