For Clay Today

JACKSONVILLE – Families in Northeast Florida can explore hands-on learning opportunities in emerging fields such as artificial intelligence, esports and drone technology at a community event hosted by Charter Schools USA (CSUSA) and the Jacksonville Icemen.

The event will be on Saturday, April 11, from 10 a.m.-2 p.m., at 3605 Philips Highway. It is free and open to the public.

Attendees will have the opportunity to participate in interactive stations highlighting programs offered at CSUSA schools across Clay, Duval and St. Johns counties.

Activities will include demonstrations featuring drones, aquaponics, and esports, along with family-friendly attractions such as bounce houses, face painting, food, and ice skating.

“We’re seeing increased interest from families in programs that connect classroom learning to real-world skills,” said Eric Schill, director of school support for CSUSA. “This event is designed to give parents and students a chance to experience those opportunities firsthand.”

Esports continue to grow at both the K–12 and collegiate levels. According to national data, more than 1,000 colleges and universities now offer esports programs, creating new pathways for student engagement and scholarships.

CSUSA operates nine tuition-free public charter schools in Clay, Duval and St. Johns counties, all of which will be represented at the event.
