CAPE CORAL, Fla. (WINK) — The Moose Lodge off Santa Barbara Boulevard North in Cape Coral has been serving the community since 2008. But lately, it’s been challenging.
“The dust is just unbelievable,” said Lisa Cummings, president of the Moose Lodge 2199.
WINK News reporter Bella Line visited the lodge, where staff showed her dirt coating the bar. One customer, Sharon Ebie, said she has friends she’s met at the lodge who won’t come back until the dust is gone.
“I came in yesterday, and I sat at the bar, and I put my hands down, and there was dust all over them,” Ebie said. “And the girls, they had just opened.”
Jacqui Petrie, the bar manager, said they’ve tried covering the ice chests and constantly wiping down the counters, but they can’t keep up.
“We understand that development is inevitable, but it’s not acceptable,” Petrie said. “Just bringing the food from the kitchen out to the tiki, I mean, is getting dust. There’s dust nonstop.”
WINK News called the company listed on the Lee County Property Appraiser’s website. They said they’re not sharing what’s being built at this time and had no comment on the dirt issue.
“We just need somebody to help us get this under control,” Petrie said. “I mean, we can’t go on.”
The city of Cape Coral said contractors must control their dirt and dust, and the Development Services staff is looking into this property.
