TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – On Saturday, the Florida Veterans Foundation presented a $15,000 check to Honor Flight Tallahassee as they prepare for takeoff very soon.

Honor Flight Tallahassee will fly local U.S. military veterans from Tallahassee to Washington, D.C. on a one-day trip to visit memorials dedicated to honoring their service and sacrifice.

The Florida Veterans Foundation serves as the fundraising arm of the Florida Department of Veterans Affairs, helping raise money to make these trips possible for veterans.

Dr. Pia Woodley, chair of the Florida Veterans Foundation, said it was an honor. “We recognize the many years that they have spent to serve in the military and we wanted to just help in our little way to defray the cost of our heroes traveling to Washington DC.”

The Honor Flight is scheduled for Saturday, April 18th.

WCTV will be traveling with local veterans to capture the experience this year.
