Aerial photographer @bioreconstruct shared views of the Lost Continent land at Universal Islands of Adventure, which will soon go through significant construction as Universal brings new attractions to the park.
These two photos show the removal of landscaping near the theater that once housed “The Eighth Voyage of Sindbad.” Construction walls and planters recently went up around the theater and are visible blocking the entrance and exits in bioreconstruct’s photos.
Tree clearing in Lost Continent began last fall after Universal Orlando Resort confirmed upcoming “construction activity” in the land. Universal said this work was to “ensure the area is ready for any future developments.”
“The Eighth Voyage of Sindbad” closed permanently in 2018 but the theater and sets stayed standing in full view of guests. Poseidon’s Fury closed permanently in early 2023. Construction walls have gone up and down at the walkthrough attraction’s exit.
The last remaining Lost Continent attraction is the talking Mystic Fountain, near the center of the above photo.
Universal has not announced what land or attractions might replace Lost Continent. Watch bioreconstruct’s aerial video of the land below.
Lost Continent was once twice its current size. In 2010, it was partially taken over by The Wizarding World of Harry Potter in 2010. Its former coasters, Dueling Dragons and Flying Unicorn, were turned into Dragon Challenge and Flight of the Hippogriff, respectively. Dragon Challenge closed permanently in 2017 and was replaced by Hagrid’s Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure.
