Residents may resume recreational and yard waste burning with proper precautions
Boca Raton, FL – April 6, 2026 — Martin County Fire Rescue has officially lifted the burn ban for unincorporated areas of the county and the Village of Indiantown, effective immediately, following improved weather conditions.
The decision comes as the region anticipates increased rainfall and damp conditions throughout the week—factors that significantly reduce wildfire risk.
With the ban lifted, residents may now resume recreational fires, including campfires and fire pits, as well as the burning of yard waste, such as vegetation and debris.
To help protect the community, officials are urging residents to continue following all open burn safety guidelines and exercise caution.
“While conditions have improved, fire safety remains a shared responsibility,” Martin County Fire Rescue officials stated. “We encourage all residents to follow guidelines and remain vigilant.”

To request a burn authorization permit, residents should contact Martin County Fire Prevention at (772) 288-5633.
Any residential yard waste burn larger than 8 feet requires additional authorization from the Florida Forest Service. More information is available at:

Applications must be submitted before 5 p.m. on the day prior to the proposed burn.
Officials also noted that conditions can change quickly, and the burn ban may be reinstated at any time if fire risk increases.
