TAYLOR COUNTY, Fla. (WCTV) – An “altercation” over the weekend led to the arrest of a 17-year-old who is now facing numerous charges, including manslaughter.
Trenton Williams is charged with manslaughter, child neglect, burglary and other charges in connection to the incident that occurred Saturday evening and claimed the life of 47-year-old Brandy Collins, according to the Taylor County Sheriff’s Office.
The teen’s arrest comes after deputies responded to a home on Dennis Howell Road regarding a disturbance just before 7 p.m. Saturday, TCSO wrote in a press release Monday. Authorities received a 911 call “where several raised voices could be heard engaging in an altercation,” deputies said.
Before deputies arrived, a second 911 call was received, requesting EMS for an unconscious woman who the sheriff’s office later identified as Collins. Deputies then arrived and attempted to save Collins’ life.
However, the sheriff’s office said the 47-year-old woman was transported to Doctors Memorial Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

An investigation led deputies to develop probable cause that Williams arrived at the home “unlawfully and without permission entered one of the vehicles, and stole several items from the vehicle valued at about $950,” the press release said.
Witnesses claim that the 17-year-old then left the home “driving recklessly with his toddler child in the vehicle,” hitting a mailbox and nearly hitting Collins, “while making derogatory comments to her about the state of her health,” according to deputies.
Moments later, authorities said Collins collapsed in the driveway as Williams sped away.
The teen suspect was later contacted, taken into custody and transported to the Taylor County Jail, according to TCSO.
