A 45-year-old Olathe man was critically injured after a crash that left several cattle dead Monday evening in Miami County. Crews were called around 5:30 p.m. to 231st Street just east of Pflumm Road on a reported injury crash, according to the Miami County Sheriff’s Office.When first responders arrived, they found a heavily damaged 1998 Ford Ranger in a cattle lot north of the road. Several cattle were also found dead at the scene.Investigators identified the driver as an Olathe man. He was taken to a hospital with critical injuries.According to the sheriff’s office, the pickup was traveling westbound on 231st Street when it left the roadway for unknown reasons, went through a fence and entered the cattle field. The truck then struck four cattle before coming to a stop. All four animals died.
