To mark her rise to leadership, FIU organizes a Presidential Investiture Ceremony to celebrate the recent appointment of its seventh president, Jeanette Nuñez, the first alumna and female president.

She highlights her three main focuses as FIU president: student success, research excellence, and strategic partnership.

After announcing FIU’s major partnerships with Baptist Health and Nicklaus Children’s Hospital, “Our students, tomorrow’s doctors, will be at the forefront of developing tomorrow’s cures…These three areas…are the pillars on which we are building the future of FIU,” says President Nuñez during her Presidential Address.

During her Presidential Address, she announced a new project called the SOAR initiative, a fund dedicated to advancing FIU’s vision in faculty research and innovations. The fund is expected to attract the most qualified faculty researchers and encourage retention.

She extensively shows her gratitude towards alumni, students, board members, faculty, and the variety of other roles that have contributed to FIU, making it the thriving university that it is today.

Congressmen, commissioners, board members, and executives gathered at the Ocean Bank Convocation Center to share speeches of prosperity for the future of President Jeanette Nuñez’s term at FIU.

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis and Secretary of State Marco Rubio both prepared video messages for the event, affirming their full confidence in President Jeanette Nuñez’s leadership.

Waiting outside the center, activity booths and food were prepared for attendees interested in celebrating this new step forward for FIU.
