TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – A home on Mahan Drive in Tallahassee caught fire Tuesday night and was brought under control in 30 minutes, according to the Tallahassee Fire Department.
TFD said they responded at about 9:22 p.m. and arrived to find a fire coming from the attic and rear of a single-story residence.
Previous reports indicated that it was a deck fire but since it had spread, crews requested additional resources.
The Tallahassee Fire Department said all occupants were safely out of the home before they arrived and confirmed no one was inside after two searches of the home.

TFD did find 14 dogs in a nearby residence who were “safely sheltered in place with no exposure to the fire.”
Crews worked to contain the fire as it spread from the exterior to the attic.
“Due to structural concerns and the potential for collapse, crews transitioned to a defensive strategy to protect the remaining portion of the home,” TFD said. The fire was reportedly brought in control in 30 minutes.
TFD’s Prevention Division is investigating the cause of the fire.
The department said a total of 11 units responded to the reported fire.
