We’ll have to admit that we’ve found some pretty solid snacks in Epic Universe since it first opened at Universal Orlando last year.

Mac and cheese in a bread cone!

Some of these snacks are so good that they’ve even gone viral, and we get why. Well, we just recently went back to Epic Universe to try some MORE snacks, and we’re giving you our honest opinion of them.

Our first stop is over in Super Nintendo World. We visited Turbo Boost Treats to try the Item Box Soft Pretzels for $15, which are fun Mario Kart-inspired treats. They’re shaped like Koopa shells, fire flowers, bananas, mushrooms, stars, and more. They also come with a jalapeño cheese dipping sauce, which is the real star. It adds a nice punch to every pretzel bite! The pretzels themselves are moist with some nice crunchy salt on top. This is a nice shareable treat.

You can also get Item Box Cinnamon Pretzels for $15. Now, don’t expect these to be super sweet. They just have a mild sweetness and that cinnamon flavor. Even the icing seems toned down from being that sticky-sweet icing you usually get with cinnamon pretzels. It had more of a buttercream flavor. These pretzels also seem more buttery than the regular soft pretzels.

We also made our way over to the Isle of Berk to stop by Hooligan’s Grog & Gruel to try the Dragon’s Garden Pyre for $18. It’s mac & cheese with lemon herb chicken, fire-roasted corn, avocado spread, and Flamin’ Hot Cheetos crumble served in a crunchy cone. We didn’t think the mac and cheese had a lot of flavor, but it adds a creamy texture. That’s okay, though, because the chicken had a wonderful peppery flavor, especially combined with the roasted corn.

You’ve also got the avocado spread and hot Cheetos, but those are only on the top of the cone, so you don’t get that with every bite. The cone is buttery, and we think we got hints of garlic in there, too. It’s good enough to eat on its own. If we had a complaint, it’s that the seeds on the bread get stuck in your teeth, and we wished a different kind of bread had been used. However, we think this is an improvement over the last cone we had here. The bread is now almost completely dug out to the bottom, so you get more filling.

We’ll be trying even more new snacks in Epic Universe, so check back with AllEars again soon for more.
