There are currently 50 Whataburger locations across Florida.

LUTZ, Fla. — Only two months after returning to the Tampa Bay area, Whataburger is continuing to spread its name across the region with a new location opening this month.

The Texas-based fast food chain is opening a new restaurant at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 16 at 25340 Sierra Center Blvd. in Lutz.

As part of the opening, the first 80 guests in line and the first 20 cars in the drive-thru will receive a gift bag filled with exclusive Whataburger merchandise, while supplies last.

This is the second Tampa Bay location Whataburger has opened this year after opening a spot in Largo in February.

The openings come after the chain closed all its restaurants in the area back in 2009, the Tampa Bay Times reported.

“Whataburger continues its expansion across the Tampa Bay area with the grand opening of a new restaurant in Lutz, Fla., bringing its signature made-to-order menu, extraordinary hospitality, and Goodness 24/7 to even more fans in the area,” the restaurant said in a news release.

The Largo and Lutz locations are part of the first of eight Whataburgers set to open in the Tampa Bay area by the end of 2027.

A new location in the area of W. Brandon Boulevard and N. Hilltop Road in Brandon is set to open sometime this Spring.

There are currently 50 Whataburger locations across Florida.
