Base officials say the MacDill Inn was evacuated “out of an abundance of caution” after the threat was reported.

TAMPA, Fla. — A lodging facility at MacDill Air Force Base has been evacuated Thursday night following a threat, officials say.

Base officials say the MacDill Inn was evacuated “out of an abundance of caution,” though no further details into the threat were immediately provided.

“We take all threats seriously and are taking appropriate measures to prioritize the safety and security of our installation,” the base wrote in a statement. “As a matter of policy, we will not release specifics on what security measures have been implemented.”

This comes after two siblings were indicted nearly two weeks ago in connection with an improvised explosive device that was planted at the base’s Visitor Center. In a separate incident, a St. Petersburg man was arrested by U.S. Marshals last month in connection to threats that caused an hours-long lockdown at the base.

An investigation into Thursday’s threat is ongoing.
