TAMPA, Fla. — MacDill Air Force Base is reporting a threat made against the base, and has evacuated the MacDill Inn because of it.
The inn is temporary lodging for military personnel and other authorized visitors.
No other details were immediately made available about the threat.
In a social media post, the base stated:
“We take all threats seriously and are taking appropriate measures to prioritize the safety and security of our installation. As a matter of policy, we will not release specifics on what security measures have been implemented.”
This comes after multiple threats put MacDill Air Force Base on alert last month.
Security found an explosive device on March 16 outside the visitor center.
A federal grand jury indicted two people in that case.
A Palm Harbor man was also charged in connection with an incident that caused a “shelter in place” order on March 18.
