TAMPA, Fla. — Tampa Police Department (TPD) said it has arrested a suspect in connection with a homicide investigation.
TPD announced on April 11 that 41-year-old Diego Ponce-Molina has been charged with first-degree murder (with a weapon) after a man’s body was found in the 800 block of East Zack Street.
TPD said officers responded to the 800 block of East Zack Street just before 4 p.m. on April 10 for reports of an unresponsive individual.
Officers found an adult male with injuries, and he was pronounced deceased at the scene.
TPD said officers detained Ponce-Molina who was still on the scene when officers arrived.
Detectives claim Ponce-Molina approached and assaulted the man “without any apparent interaction or confrontation,” per TPD’s report.
The man killed has yet to be identified.
The investigation remains active.
