A program called the “Background Composting Program” will send participating City of Tampa residents a free backyard composting bin. According to City of Tampa, “Being a part of the solid waste process, individuals will get the chance to learn and start composting as they recycle select organic waste.

Steps for receiving a free composting bin:
Verify that you are serviced by Tampa Solid Waste
Register for the mandatory workshop
Attend workshop and follow instructions to obtain compost bin
Bin delivery (14 days)
Workshop Dates:
Friday April 17th from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM
Wednesday, May 20th from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM
Wednesday June 17th from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM
Note: Completion of Tampa’s mandatory compost workshop is required.
