Nearly a year after the shooting on Florida State University’s campus that killed two people and injured six others, body cam footage has been released.
This is a first look at that horrible day through the eyes of police officers, including those that responded to the student union and shot suspected shooter Phoenix Ikner.
Video shows the moment FSU Police Officer Cody Poppell opens fire on Ikner. Students can also be seen fleeing from the Student Union.
The entire incident took about three minutes.
Other video show Ikner near the bookstore, apparently firing and reloading his gun before chasing other students out of frame.
The provided videos end with frightened students moving to a safe location. Some have their hands up, others appear to be calling loved ones.
Ikner is treated by medics about 20 minutes after he’s shot, while officers and EMS also respond to the victims.
Poppell is taken to Tallahassee Police headquarters for an investigation in which he is cleared, and later applauded for his actions.
Ikner is scheduled to go on trial in October. He could face the death penalty.
