TAMPA, Fla. — Tampa’s premier aquarium is running again to be considered one of the best in the U.S., and you have a chance to show your support.

The Florida Aquarium is nominated again by USA Today in the “10BEST Readers’ Choice Awards” for best aquarium in the county, a recognition it’s received before by taking the No. 8 spot for the past three years.

USA Today also recently ranked The Florida Aquarium’s Tide Pool the 5th best new attraction just earlier this year.

“With the community’s support, the Aquarium has the chance to once again secure a spot in the prestigious Top 10—shining a spotlight on both the Aquarium and the entire Tampa Bay region,” a news release reads.

Located in the heart of downtown Tampa, The Florida Aquarium has helped shape the region into a premier global destination since opening in 1995.

The aquarium was selected by a panel of travel experts who research aquariums across the country to select 20 of the best, and the top ten winners are determined by the public’s vote.

USA Today states that The Florida Aquarium stands out due to its nearly 20,000 aquatic and terrestrial animals from sharks to lemurs, as well as its exceptional animal care.

“The Florida Aquarium is also a global leader in groundbreaking research and rehabilitation efforts that help restore Florida’s Coral Reef and sea turtle populations,” USA Today said.
