Former Tampa mayor Bob Buckhorn launches campaign to regain title
TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) – Former Tampa mayor Bob Buckhorn entered the race for his old job on Monday.
Buckhorn has been open about his plans to launch a campaign. “Worst kept secret in Tampa,” he previously said, “I’m going to do it. We can’t afford to miss this window.”
Buckhorn served as Tampa’s mayor from 2011 to 2019. The Friends of Bob Buckhorn Political Action Committee raised more than $1 million to support the upcoming campaign.
“I’m not running for a redo,” he said. “I’m running to help the city get to the next level, write its next chapters, and then I’m going home.”
He filed paperwork at the supervisor of elections’ office on Monday morning.
